This was a bit slower than the rest but I still enjoyed it, especially the last 30%. A few ancient characters we've heard about in previous books make first appearances here. DOD sets the stage for the final book in this series and I must say, its looking to be a beast of a finale.

My first book review. Apologies if I do it wrong. :)
In a series already marked by its epic scope, this takes things to the next level while also bringing many divergent threads together. Erikson's focus on the Malazan rank and file is the highlight of this, in my opinion, as well as his chapters on the Snake--some of the most beautiful and poignant passages I've ever read in fiction--although the latter may prove challenging to even the most hardcore of Erikson fans.
