The second Malazan book follows only a few characters from the first. You will find Crokus, Apsalar, Fiddler and Kalam. That is it. The rest of the characters are all new.

This makes the beginning a bit daunting. Like at the start of the first book, you are thrown into the deep end and seemingly expected to come out doing a flawless butterfly stroke. Deadhouse Gates is the second volume in Erikson's epic fantasy - The Malazan Book of the Fallen. It takes us to a different continent named Seven Cities where a rebellion is rising against the Malazan Empire. We leave behind the characters from the first book and are introduced to a whole new cast.

I like this series! I enjoy the characters, the world, and most - the sorcery. I have heard it commented that it is like a mesh of A Song of Ice and Fire and The Black Company, I would say this is a very good description.

Už asi chápu, proč jsem musela počkat dva roky, než jsem si přečetla druhý díl téhle série. Z tohoto dílu mi bude zotavování trvat tak dvakrát dýl.
