One Second After is a book that hits the reset button. An EMP has devastated America, all the technology that we take for granted has become completely useless. I was in love with reading this book and terrified at the same time. The story was fantastic. It does make you start to think about how ready you'd be if SHTF. Especially now with everything going on, this "fictional" account could become real life at any given moment.

Second time I’ve read this book and it still shocks me, scares me, absolutely destroys my soul. Reminder of how quickly life can change. My region in WNC (Canyon, NC, 30 minutes from Black Mountain )got a very small feel of this kind of event in 9/2024 when hurricane Helene knocked out power, cell phones, and water. Causing mass flooding everywhere and deaths. But we had people trying to get to us, we had cars, but it was chaos. This book is a reminder to prepare.
