What Members Thought
The thinking mans apocalypse ... Took me a while to finish this one ... Very cerebral ... Great story ... Although rather dated (it was published in 1949) it still holds up against any post apocalyptic fiction to date ... One part actually brought tears to my eyes and only one book I have ever read has done that and that was THE ROAD by CORMAC MCCARTHY ... I highly recommend this book but don't expect an easy read just a GOODREAD ...

While not the most breath-taking post-apocalyptic story I've read, it covers a lot of ideas that your average "kill the zombies" or "kill the one world government" tripe overlooks. Sure, Stewart got a lot of details wrong, at least from today's point of view, and his protagonist is only kind of likable, but he makes one really, really good point that I've not encountered elsewhere: A lot of preppers and doomsayers seem to think it will be great when things fall apart and morally inferior unprepa
