I heard about this book a long time ago and had it on my to-read list... then when I found out it was being made into a movie, it jumped straight to the top of that list. (i hate the movie spoiling a book for me... luckily, I thought the movie wasn't bad.. and it was different enough from the book to not affect my opinions on either)

Shelves: post-apocalyptic, zombies, stopped-reading

I did NOT like this as much as I had hoped. In fact I did stop reading it. I had to put "read" in order to get it off my "currently reading" list. It is basically testimonies given by various people around the world and is absolutely NOTHING like the movie. Not the typical Zombie apocalypse fare. This is an Excellent story about people not the event. Even if zombies are not your normal bag you will enjoy this book. We see a catastrophic pandemic event from the viewpoint of numerous people across the globe. Well thought out and beautifully written.

This is a great book. I am not a big fan of the first person genre but I made an exception for this on. I really liked how Brooks went through the different perspectives/situations of the outbreak and what people had to do to survive. If your a Zombie fan you will love this book.

Shelves: audiobooks-completed

Audiobook. Unabridged. The narration was completed with a full cast of actors portraying each interviewee which gave the audiobook real substance. It actually felt like recorded interviews I was able to listen in to.

Outstanding, compelling story. For anyone who liked the movie - you will LOVE the book. If you enjoyed reading the book - I would recommend listening to the audiobook.
