What Members Thought

I appreciate the experimentation in form, but it’s all just unnecessarily obscure. His writing is simply not interesting or beautiful enough for me to decipher it, unlike Ulysses, of which Faulkner’s novel is like a watered-down version. The final nail in the coffin is the appendix added decades later, which makes it all the more bleh. Sorry.

Although I had to start this one about four times once it was finished I found that I had read a masterpiece. Please don't be fooled by the poor writing found in the first few chapters. It's not the writing but the character that is shallow and his mental (in)abilities are reflected in the writing.
