The Socratic style of dialogue is always engaging, but the nonsensical syllogisms that are strung together get rather old and formulaic: (a) Make some very basic statement and get accordance; (b) Over extrapolate from the simple to an extremely complex nuanced case and gloss over the assumption; (c) Claim that 2+2=5; (d) Sing a, usually good, song.

A work considered a combination of Menippean satire and apocalyptic dialogue, the Consolation of Philosophy is a philosophical work similar in structure to a classical Greek dialogue (such as the Dialogues of Plato) but with a more personal, religious, and mystical significance. La filosofia si incarna in una donna fredda e bella e va a spiegare a Severino Boezio, che in carcere sta aspettando di morire, perché non si deve lamentare del suo destino. Detta cosí fa quasi ridere, peró é un libro che alterna una prosa complessa a delle liriche estremamente poetiche, secondo me. Leggetevi un testo con le note, altrimenti vi perdete informazioni importanti.

Inspirational. It reminded me of Victor Frankl’s "Man's Search for Meaning". I was impressed long ago how Frankl describes he found “meaning” in the most inhospitable environment of Auschwitz.
