The Housekeeper + The Professor by Yoko Ogawa is a heart-warming story about a housekeeper, a professor and the housekeeper’s ten year old son but also and most importantly a story about what it means to live in the present, and about friendships, family and respect and a little Math thrown in for good measure.

What a wonderful and touching story, loved the realness of the characters, and how they found a common ground in the love for a young boy. Baseball and mathematics play a large part but it also explores what friendship really means and the acceptance of people that are different. Wonderfully poignant story.

This book was different than what I expected but I really enjoyed it. This book involves math and I found something pure and unique about that. Plus I just liked how it was something new, I havent read a book like this before. It's really refreshing and I just loved the storyline. I feel like it is full of lessons. Kind of book that just makes you think.

I don't really know how I feel about this book. It's a good story of friendship. I will admit I felt it dragged there for a second. I just don't know that I can write a review about it....eh. I don't know. :(

I enjoyed this book very much.
I gave it five stars because I thought the characters of the story were extremely well developed, the story flows beautifully mixing concepts as diverse as mathematics, baseball and brain damage. Personally coming from a scientific background I found the idea extremely original. The book is all about relationships, it is character driven and it touches you in many different ways. It is very inspirational and explores relationships that are formed and become stronge ...more
