I would like to give this more than a 3 star rating, but not as much as a 4 star rating.
I am not sure I liked this as much as admired the creative plot line and character development. The novel begins with a missing wife and a disheveled house. The husband quickly becomes the primary suspect with an abundance of incriminating evidence. I've been wanting to read this book for a long time. I've heard so many great things about it, and the mystery/suspense genre is quickly becoming my favorite. When I started reading the book, I was hooked. I didn't want to do anything, I just wanted to finish the book! It took me less than 24 hours to read because I wanted to know what happened next. Gillian Flynn certainly writes well and knows how to keep the reader engaged.

The book lived up to the hype but it would not be totally true to say I am not disappointed.
The book is tense and well written. Even though I guessed the twist well before it was revealed that didn't spoil my enjoyment.

Library book group pick for Feb. 2013. I would give this 4.5 stars. I'm not sure why something keeps telling me to give it a half star smaller. I think because somehow the story seems familar from someplace. I'm not sure if I had heard something like it on the news or read a similar book or what. But, that being said, I really liked this book, it keep me really interested. The second half of the book better than the first half, but enjoyed it just the same.

I really wanted to give this book at least 4 stars and I would have ... Until I got to the end of the book. seriously??? THAT is how she chose to end this story? In a word ... Anticlimactic!
I almost put the book down and gave up on it after forcing myself to read the first several chapters... It was a very tough start. Then all of the sudden it started getting good. Gripping even. I couldn't tear myself away.
