What a great heartfelt book. Takes you into the world of dementia and the frustrating lives of those with Alzheimer's, and at the same time, keeps you interested in the characters and plot unable to put the book down.

Update: June 12, 2015 Finally watched the movie......thought book was so much better!

This book was very unsettling but I think it's a book everyone should read. I liked how it was written from the perspective of Alice. I think seeing her experience her memory loss through her eyes made it feel more realistic and left a stronger impact. Even though it was difficult to get through some parts, I like how she takes a gentle approach to the difficult topics. She enlightens the reader on the subject matter but also does an amazing job of expressing her characters’ most candid thoughts ...more

I enjoyed reading the book. However, it is so very sad to watch a woman of staggering intellect lose her ability to read and comprehend and even enjoy movies. Then to see her progress to the point of not knowing her daughters' names at the very end was heartbreaking.(view spoiler) ...more

I am an older women and terrified of coming down with Alzheimer disease. Reading Still Alice was somewhat comforting. However, our family picture gallery is in our upstairs hallway, and I have told my husband when I walk by it and cannot recognize them, please take me to California. The book is well written and I found it comforting that Alice still was able to have some quality of life.

I LOVED this book. I added it to my to-read list after having readed and loved Lisa Genova's "Left Neglected" and it did not disappoint me. She is a very talented author. I laughed and cried and just thoughorly enjoyed the story. I highly recommend it and can't wait for her next book. ...more
