A very good rendering of a very sensetive subject. You travel along with Alice as she fades deeper and deeper into Alzheimers and the effect it has on her family.

I admit that I have had this book for a few years, and I am just now getting to it. This book was an eye opener for me even though I know it's fiction...the writer made me feel it was a true story. I loved Alice, everything she did in her life was enhanced by her mind, she taught, she traveled, she wrote grants, her entire life was truly her mind. This book was fascinating and scary. I loved being able to go inside the mind of someone who is experiencing memory loss. I could relate to the frustration and confusion, followed by the horror of a diagnosis no one would ever want to hear. I liked the authors decision to write from Alice 's perspective; the inclusion of the reactions of family members, colleagues, and other significant people. I have wanted to read this book for a long time, so glad the book club picked it. I feel like I understand Alzheimer's more, but I'm terrified that I will deal with this is the future with family. I thought it was very well written and thought provoking. Alzheimer's doesn't discriminate. ...more
