This book creeped me out. Expecting a story about the Chicago fair - which part of the book covered but the murder scenarios were unsettling
I even felt impatient reading the ups and downs of the planning of the Chicago fair.
This was a book club pick. I finished JR book but would not recommend it

I was impressed by the amount of research that went into this book juxtaposing the world's fair with the story of a serial murderer and I enjoyed learning about the number of well-known people who were connected to the story. The fact that the world's fair was even able to open at all seems a miracle after reading this account.
It's hard to know how much of the dialog was was fictionalized -- when an actual event is fictionalized, I like to know what is fact and what is fiction. I enjoyed the boo ...more
