What Members Thought
This was a nonfiction/true crime book. Overall, I liked it, but it was slow and tedious at times ... for long stretches at a time. I struggled with that part, especially the minutia of how they built certain things for the World Fair. It felt a little too long. I enjoyed the personal stories of the people the most, and that is what drew me in. They were all so different. The ferris wheel was also quite the feat back in the day, so 3 stars.
This book creeped me out. Expecting a story about the Chicago fair - which part of the book covered but the murder scenarios were unsettling
I even felt impatient reading the ups and downs of the planning of the Chicago fair.
This was a book club pick. I finished JR book but would not recommend it
