Wow, I have been waiting a long time to read this book and it did not disappoint. I listened on Audible and the narration was outstanding; in fact, I think listening to it was better than reading it (I read parts of it). I knew nothing about the Chicago fair of the late 1890's and I had never heard of H.H. Holmes, the notorious serious killer of the time. I had to go and look up information in the Internet about both of these after finishing the book. This is the second book by Erik Larson that

Loved that this non-fiction read like fiction most of the time. Hated that the two stories were never integrated. I was waiting throughout the entire book to see when/how Burnham and Holmes or their stories would cross paths. Not sure what the point of telling two stories was if they were't really related. Educational and interesting though!
