British vessel, The Wager, shipwrecks off the coast of Patagonia. The marooned crew engage in the adult version of “Lord of the Flies” and then some.

Well-written, well-researched, easy reading, however, the story is missing an indescribable oomph that would have kept me more empathetic to the shipmates harrowing experience.

This was a non fiction read for one of my book clubs. I finally got it after months of waiting. This was a pretty good read. I did make it through it pretty quickly. It was factual yet the author did a good job presenting everything so that it felt like a story too. 3.5 stars
