A baby girl is born during Hurricane Wanda and she is named Wanda by her mother. This is the beginning of this unusual girl and how she and her family, or what's left of them, cope with the disaster that is Florida. Risng water levels from storms and flooding, extreme heat, and people moving away from Florida due to lack of infrastructure. It is a nightmare created by climate change and the people who deny it. I love Lily Brooks Dalton's writing. I would read anything she wrote.

This was an absolutely beautiful (and sad) book. I loved the author's writing. Even though there was some magical components it still felt believable. The writing just took me right to the town in Florida. Right to the future that could be. I think this is my favorite of the month. 5 stars
