I'm not sure what I could possibly say that hasn't already been said by countless people who have read and loved this book about a man , courageous beyond words , by an author who captures his heart and mind and the harshest realities of his imprisonment by the Japanese in WW II .

It's been a while since I read Seabiscuit by Laura Hillenbrand but I was immediately reminded of what a good writer she is - how she can artfully tell a story which could otherwise be just a compilation of dates and ev

An extraordinary story of an extraordinary life. So hard to believe it is true and that one human could survive all of this and come out as a true survivor. I was so impressed with the historical facts that Hillenbrand brought to this book...and amazed at the cruelty of War, the part that is not often spoken about. Wow! This is an amazing story of an Olympian and World War II veteran. I could not help but fall in love with Louie Zamperini - he has a spirit about him that people flock to like moths to light. This book shows why the WWII vets are known as the Greatest Generation.
