Olive is “ferocious and complicated and kindly and sometimes cruel. In essence...a bit of each of us.” Elizabeth Strout
There is nothing I could say about my feelings for Olive Kitteridge that Strout doesn’t say herself, in the readers guide, so I will just quote her. ~ “I would hope that my readers feel a sense of awe at the quality of human endurance, at the endurance of love in the face of a variety of difficulties; that the quotidian life is not always easy, and is something worthy of respect ...more

My rating of this book changed from a 3-star to a 5-star book after reading this book for the second time. The words were what grabbed me the second time, and the format of the compilation of short stories did not throw me because I was prepared for it.
