I loved Olive!

This is a book of linked vignettes of the life of Olive Kitteridge - grouchy, malcontent, out spoken, expectant, demanding, grumpy, frumpy, in your face, non-apologetic, and so damn lovable. Although Olive is not in each of the chapters, it is often taken up with others stories, Olive is the glue that holds everyone together - her students, her neighbors, her son and her husband. Olive Kitteridge is the thread that holds together these dozen or so short stories. She makes cameo appearances in all of them, sometimes making a big impact on the lives of others and sometimes just a bystander. She is grouchy, entitled and begrudging of how her life is wrapping up. But as the stories roll through, we are given a deeper view of the world through Olive's eyes. This is a really good book....It is slow going and you have to take your time in reading this book.

I give this book 5/5 Stars.

Fascinating character study in many different short stories. What could have been a very unpleasant and distasteful character was fleshed out so fully, so expertly, that you ended up embracing her for her humanity, along with all her earthly flaws.

Olive is not your typical subject in a story, we probably all know
someone like her. different stories about lives that are sometimes
very connected to her or just people that live in her town. I
found it interesting. but not a highly recommend.
