3.5 stars rounded up. I really wanted to like this book. I liked the idea of it. But it needed a good editor. And I didn't really feel connected to Liesl, the protagonist, or any of the other characters. It did have a great reveal, though. ...more

2.5 rounded up to 3 stars. What I loved about the book was the "courting" of donors for the university library. As one of those donors, it amused me to think that the Development Officer at my alma mater has to go through such things (even though I appreciated that this is a fictional work). I also appreciated the author's affection for old and rare books, and for libraries in general. All of which is why this gets 3 stars and not 2.

What I didn't like was that the main character lacked a backbon
