Bryan Stevenson is my new hero. I heard him speak a few weeks ago and he was powerful, engaging, and drew me right into his cause for equal justice. This book expands on many of the stories he shared in his verbal talk so I really liked hearing a bit more about those stories.

This book has lots of overwhelming statistics on crime and how over-crowded our prisons are and I agree with his explanation for how we ended up at a time when children were charged as adults. I would like to think we don't

I had to push through this. It made me angry. It made me sad. It made me ask why did I give up that dream of being a lawyer.

Oh my gosh! This book was such a gut punch. If you want to know anything about the blatant and systemic racism that plagues the United States criminal justice system, then please, please read this. It's absolutely abhorrent.

An in-depth review will be forthcoming as soon as I can fully process this.

This should be required reading. It is a tough and important read. I was shaking my head in frustration and sorrow throughout. There were so many heartbreaking and mind boggling statistics that I wanted to share in this story. It’s just so obvious that our system is broken.
