This is the book that started it all -- I received a complimentary copy of this one from the publisher and didn't realize it was #4 in the series. My book besties have been reading the series together, about once/month and we've made it to this one. I feel so good to read a book on my real bookshelf! (That's usually the kiss of death for my books)

This was an enjoyable, page-turning courtroom mystery that you need to read quickly without too much analysis of the facts that Cavanaugh presents. I liked reading the two alternating perspectives - that of lawyer Eddie Flynn and that of serial killer Joshua Kane - and seeing how Kane orchestrated everything about the murders, his placement on the jury and, eventually, the conviction. This thriller is book three in the Eddie Flynn series, a series I was unaware of. After reading this exciting drama of a serial killer with a inability to feel pain and a plan to make somebody else go to jail for his crimes by getting on the jury in the murder trial is a little far fetched. However, it works here because of well developed characters and unimaginable twists.
