This is one of those "truth is stranger than fiction" stories. Who would have thought that the prim and proper Oxford English Dictionary would have owed its existence, in large part, to a convicted murderer who was also a paranoid schizophrenic? The premise is very strong (what could be more interesting to a bibliophile than a book about words?) although the execution was a bit lacking. I enjoyed learning about the two protagonists and how they lived out their lives, and about the astounding project of creating a dictionary (who knew that would be such a monumental task?).
