A wonderful book with poetic writing which gave me a clear picture of the North Carolina marshlands, waterways, birds and sea life. This book with it’s mystery intertwined in the story left me feeling everything from fear, abandonment, heartbreak, loneliness, love, rejection, trust and so much more. But most of all it conveyed Kya’s, the main characters, love for the nature surrounding her that taught her, embraced her and brought her comfort.

I received, Where the Crawdads Sing from the publisher. I couldn't wait to read, and discuss it with our book club. I loved the writing style( it was poetic). I had been hearing great recommendations from many people. So the anticipation was great. But as I kept reading, and reading, I felt like it was unbelievable. I understand this is fiction. Wow! It really lives up to the hype! It is a compelling story that is beautifully written. I usually stay away from best sellers because most of them are so disappointing, but I am so glad I succumbed in this case. I loved it, I couldn't put it down, it brought me close to tears at times - what more could I ask for?
