So good! I loved Kya and her free spirit (strangeness) and the quality relationships she did have with a few folk. I really loved the nature part of the book and all the descriptions: the marsh, the wildlife, the plants, the shell and feather collecting, the water, everything! I recently read My Absolute Darling which also had a lot of nature and survivalism in it, and sometimes this reminded me of that one, which was good, but with a grittier story. This was a wonderful book from beginning to end with its unique setting and character. I started it as an ebook and finished listening to the audiobook and I would recommend the audiobook.

Kya (aka: Marsh Girl) raises herself after everyone in the family leaves her. She learns how to read and write and is published as an expert on the Marsh. She's loved two men, one who leaves her to go to collage and one who later winds up dead. She is convicted of the crime and it goes to court. What will the verdict be? You have to read the book to find out. And, there is a twist at the end that I didn't see coming.
