After reading so many great reviews for this book I began to wonder if it was going to be as good as everyone said and if I’d enjoy it just as much. Well the answer is no I didn’t enjoy it, I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!
No child should have their mother walk out on them, but that’s just what happened to Kya Clark when she was only six years old. Kya was convinced her mother would return, but as the days passed, Kya soon realized that maybe she would never see her mother again. One by one Kya’s siblings ...more

Oh I loved this one. For Kya, the marsh was her mother, growing up by herself, abandoned by her family and judged by those in town. This is a story of great sadness but also love and friendship and some hope. It was beautifully written, transporting me right to the beautiful marsh. The story is very involved with nature, and man's connection to it, all the things that link us together and the things that separate us (which are mostly superficial). Yes, there is a murder mystery at the heart of it, but the story ...more

I enjoyed this book so much!!! What took me so long to read it??? It lived up to the hype for me. I felt like I was living in the marsh with Kya. Such beautiful words written to describe her world and life in the marsh. Loved the little mystery and the twist at the end. 4.5 stars so I rounded it to 5, because it’s that good!!!
