For some reason I keep adding Lisa Jewell books to my shelves, but haven't read any of them... until now!

I devoured this one (well as much as you can on audio!). Alice finds a man sitting on the beach watching the water, in the rain. Hours later, he's still sitting there staring ahead. She finally brings a jacket out to him and realizes that he cannot remember who he is or anything about his life. Across the country another storyline starts with Lily and she realizes her husband hasn't come home

A man shows up on Alice's beach frontage, standing for hours in the rain. He has forgotten his name and knows nothing about himself. Alice takes it upon herself to provide him with the necessities until he finds his way. This book surprised me. I thought I could predict what would happening but I was very wrong. I have nothing bad to say about it. But still, if I had to be trapped on a desert island with any of the characters, I might just go for a smaller island and solitude. I didn't find any of them likeable except, maybe, the reporter who was only briefly in the story.

I realize the characters weren't supposed to be likeable but they should at least be companionable on that island.

Maybe because I have a cold, but I just couldn't get completely into this book. I really enjoyed Jewell's "The Girls in the Garden" so I picked this one up with high hopes. There were some good twists and turns, but just a 3 star read for me. I did like the quirky character of Alice. ...more
