Two storylines eventually converge together as the world rotates quietly in the background.

A) Sully is the communications controller for a ship that has just traversed Jupiter and is now tracking the satellite left behind on its moons. There are two stories that converge. One line follows a group of astronauts who have been away from earth for two years. The other storyline follows A scientist who has been left by his own choice in the Arctic when there is something going on in the world. All communications stop from earth. So what happened and what do the space survivors do? A sense of quiet desolation is created and the story unfolds with cinematic imagination.

I think I am in the minority for this book. I have read so many reviews that have said this was a beautiful book. It was good. I liked the surprises (which I had figured out well ahead of time). I liked the connections. I liked the questions it raises. I just didn't feel fulfilled, if that makes any sense.

3-3.5 stars. I would still say read it though, because a lot of people really like it.
