This was a chunkster book – over 60 hours on the Audible version. The narration by Juliet Stevenson was wonderful; I think she’s one of my most favorite narrators! I don’t know if I could have “read” the book due to the vocabulary and dialogue, but by listening to the Audible version I had no problems. I love Eliot's writing but this one just didn't work for me. Way too much dialogue; sometimes we even jump right into the middle of conversations. That said, there was too much "telling" and not enough "showing" -- so I suppose much of the "telling" must have been in the voluminous dialogue. And the content of the dialogue was tiresome for me, often silly or gossipy girl talk - which is okay to a point but it seemed interminable.
