Good book; not at all what I expecting.

This is the story of Victoria, an 18 year old girl who grew up in the foster care system, angry, hurt, wounded, unwanted, discarded, and how she learns the language of flowers (each flower has a meaning) as a way to communicate with others and to eventually bring peace to herself, to her past.

I was quite surprised at how much I enjoyed this story; it's very well written.

Primrose = Childhood

Moss grows without roots.

Over time, we would learn to love each other, and I would learn to love her like a mother loves, imperfectly and without roots.

You're the only one that can get this baby out.

I loved this story of Victoria, an angry young lady who was in the foster system until at age 18, was emancipated with nowhere to go. She ended up sleeping in a park among the flowers, which was the only thing she loved. I fell in love with Victoria, rooting and cheering for her all the way. The book was amazing and I highly recommend it.

Lovely and heartbreaking, Victoria Jones is a present day foster child who cannot connect with anyone and has past traumas that keep her from moving forward with her life. However, she has a gift with flowers and she communicates her pain and her feelings for others by creating arrangements. Having never known love, it's hard for her to return love when it's offered.. This book is an ey ...more

I loved this novel. The story was sweet and mesmerizing. Well written characters that I came to care for and wish the best for. Don't even start me on the actual language of flowers… Love, love, love! ...more

Growing up, I've always associated flowers with only love.. Giving & receiving them on birthdays, valentines day or as a get well gift etc.. I never gave much thought to any other meaning.. Jealousy, desire, etc The meaning behind the flowers blended beautifuly with Victoria's story. When I got frustrated with her which I did often, I was reminded through the flowers to look beyond the obvious & understand the meaning in her actions, her reasons .. It was beautiful book & I loved it.. ...more
