Moss grows without roots.

Over time, we would learn to love each other, and I would learn to love her like a mother loves, imperfectly and without roots.

You're the only one that can get this baby out.

This was a beautiful novel about a young woman who grows up in the foster care system. Her history of traumatic experiences and of not having any stable relationships lead her to not trust herself or others in relationships and to be afraid to hope for anything better for herself. Growing up, I've always associated flowers with only love.. Giving & receiving them on birthdays, valentines day or as a get well gift etc.. I never gave much thought to any other meaning.. Jealousy, desire, etc The meaning behind the flowers blended beautifuly with Victoria's story. When I got frustrated with her which I did often, I was reminded through the flowers to look beyond the obvious & understand the meaning in her actions, her reasons ..
