Cranky widower who owns a book store is rude to publisher sales rep, proceeds to get drunk, has valuable book he takes out of case while drunk stolen, has a toddler abandoned in his store whom he adopts, which puts a stop to his slowly drinking himself to death. Oh my god. Hysterically sobbing!!
I don't think I've cried quite that hard since My Sister's Keeper.
What a beautiful book!! Is going to go down for generations as a heartfelt gem. Perfection in a book.
For anybody who loves words, books, writing. Particularly for those obsessives who came out the womb with a book in hand, and who now have spectacular skin cause they spent their childhood (and their teens, and 20's and 30's) indoors, reading a book.
