I reread Looking for Alaska recently and decided I needed to read more of John Green's books. To begin with, this book might not be my favorite by this characters but it definitely is not anything like the movie which I did not like at all.

This is my third book by John Green after The Fault in Our Stars—which I absolutely loved— and Looking for Alaska—which I genuinely enjoyed. I was really looking forward to reading Paper Towns and confirming that John Green is an outstanding author. However, this book did not do that for me. This book was very similar to Looking for Alaska to the point that it was almost annoying. Paper Towns is the story of Quentin, a senior in high school, having an adventure with his neighbor Margo the night This is my third book by John Green after The Fault in Our Stars—which I absolutely loved— and Looking for Alaska—which I genuinely enjoyed. I was really looking forward to reading Paper Towns and confirming that John Green is an outstanding author. However, this book did not do that for me. This book was very similar to Looking for Alaska to the point that it was almost annoying. Paper Towns is the story of Quentin, a senior in high school, having an adventure with his neighbor Margo the night before she leaves town leaving no trace and consequently Quentin looking for her. The beginning was interesting enough as I was intrigued wanting to find out what happened to Margo, but then it all went downhill from there with the plot and its many flaws. There were several events that were just not believable, as well as some of the characters. This was going to be a 2-star rating for me, but then Green sort of redeemed himself at the end where the infeasible behaviors are addressed. Green does have a great talent with words and pondering about life which was what I enjoyed at the end of the book. Overall, I wouldn't necessarily recommend this book. Instead, I would recommend his two other books. These were some of the memorable quotes:
“Leaving feels good and pure only when you leave something important, something that mattered to you. Pulling life out by the roots. But you can't do that until your life has grown roots.”
”Maybe, it's more like you said before, all of us being cracked open. Like each of us starts out as a watertight vessel. And these things happen-these people leave us, or don't love us, or don't get us, or we don't get them, and we lose and fail and hurt one another. And the vessel starts to crack open in places. And I mean, yeah, once the vessel cracks open, the end becomes inevitable...But there is all this time between when the cracks start to open up and when we finally fall apart. And it's only in that time that we can see each other, because we see out of ourselves through our cracks and into others through theirs.” ...more

I have to say, I was quite disappointed. The beginning was good, kept me entranced and then it just became a little too dragged. Ending? Equally disappointing. Didn't feel the magic :(

P.s. I think the sidekicks were the saving grace. ...more
