I loved this book. I had previously read a few of the books in Novik’s Temeraire series (although I am behind in that series) and enjoyed them. I kept hearing really positive things about Uprooted, so I finally read it.
There are things in this book that remind me of My Fair Lady, which to me is a good thing because I love that movie!

This was *so* good. I've been meaning to read it for over a year now, and for some reason could never get into it, but once I picked it up yesterday I couldn't put it down. I love a good fairy tale re-imagining, and this one was one of the best I've read in a while. It starts slow but quickly picks up the pace, and more than half the book is spent in a breathless, relentless, edge-of-your-seat push of plot and magic and twists.
