This book analyzes in detail the successes and failures of four major protest movements in 20th century America: The unemployed workers' movement of the Great Depression, the industrial workers' movement of the early 20th century, the Civil Rights movement of the 1950's, 60's and 70's, and the welfare rights movement.
Our reading will focus on how Black Lives Matters, the Women's March, and renewed antifa actions are related to these historical movements; what we, as activists, can learn from them; and how we can avoid the pitfalls predicted by these analyses.
