This was a perfectly charming book. It's told in epistolary format which is fine with me but I know it's not to everyone's tastes. If this format isn't for you, I'd still highly recommend giving the audiobook a try - which is how I read it. It has a full cast and every single narrator brought his or her character to life through the reading of their letters, imbuing them with charm and warmth. On the surface it's a cobbled together story of a thirty-something writer in search of inspiration for ...more

A lot of different characters, found a bit difficult to follow each one but the story was good and I enjoyed the letters format of the book. Worth reading it.

I enjoyed reading this book. I felt like we got a good feel of the main character. I felt like the end was a little rushed. I mainly just wanted more of the story, but it was good and easy to read.

This is my fourth or fifth time reading or listening to this. I love all the characters. I love the different points of view. I love learning the small bits of history that are not widely known. These stories are woven in ways that share the heartache these people endured as well as the small joys they has well along with the healing that was to come after. Not to mention the elegant love story under it all that started with a simple letter.
