I guess this is Flynn's schtick, unlikable characters.
Frankly, the first half of this book was slow and I was bored. There is a massive shift about halfway through and the second half really cooked.

If I could, I would rate this 3 and 1/2 stars. I really liked parts of this book, the initial plot mainly, but I pretty much hated how she decided to end it. After I read about 30% od the book, I guessed what was going to happen, but I was looking forward to the final resolution of the novel, and I found that disappointing.
That was a fucked up book. The beginning was slow, the middle was fascinating, and the ending was fucked up. I really enjoyed that. I think I might watch the movie to compare them, which I never do. I really liked the ending, which I guess might be a bit of an unpopular opinion.
I didn't finish it because the unreliable narrator was too obvious and I grew tired of the endless flashbacks. I had a feeling it was a set-up for Nick and these 2 folks were just, well, jerks. I wanted to see what the big deal was. I went to Wiki for the plot spoilers and get why it's popular. Just not for me.
