Ok so this is one of those weird situations where both a 3 & a 4 Star Rating doesn’t really feel like it does my opinion justice but since Goodreads is clinging to its own mediocrity I’m going to round down.
First 1/3 was boring as hell, probably a 2 Stars, second 1/3 was great & definitely a 4 Stars, last 1/3 meanders a bit but ultimately reaches a satisfying 3 Star conclusion so that’s my breakdown.

Wow. Judging by how much I despise the main characters, and by how much I did not want to continue reading this book because it made me feel physically ill, I probably should have rated it with one star. But... it's brilliant. I love the way it's written. I love the way the story is set up and I loved the unreliable first POV narrator. The plotting, the prose, everything is impressive.

Oh, oh, those people are CRAZY!
No review for obvious spoiler reasons. But I agree with a lot of other people and don't think it's a good ending. ...more

I had already seen the movie before reading the plot. So I was aware of whatever happens in the book. But the book makes the characters feel much more shallower than they are portrayed in the movie. In the movie, I felt sympathy for all the characters, but the same couldn't be said for the book characters. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. But I liked the twists and turns of the plot. I haven't read a book in a while which kept me so captivated.
