Nina, another reviewer, said it best: "All I want to say is that Fitz is a remarkable protagonist, with qualities that are not all that common among typical fantasy heroes, and the plot is stunningly clever." - Fitz is absolutely wonderful, and the plot is exactly as described ... stunning and so so so SO clever!!!

Few warnings about this book and trilogy to kick this review off.
○ If you are expecting this to be a cool book about an assassin, don't pick it up.
○ If you dislike misery porn, don't pick this up.
○ If you hate the "Idiot Ball" trope, definitely don't pick this up!

The world seems interesting. I had high hopes for the world, politicking and magic system developing to keep me entertained. Enough interesting events are happening in this book to justify finishing it once you start. I'd summarize it ...more
