I've had Robin Hobb on my list of authors I simply must read for a few years now, but haven't had the opportunity to get my hands on one of her books until this month. Loved it.

Wow, this book was awesome. Robin Hobb's writing style was a bit difficult to get used to at first but I quickly fell in love with it as the book progressed.

Fitz has a tough life. All through the book he works and works for this and that and just doesn't have much success. I think that's one of the things that endeared me to him so much. He had so much going against him the whole story and yet it never truly kept him from continuing along with his life.

A good start to a series. The main character is likeable and has likeable allies. The villain are just evil enough without being cartoonish. I will be going on to book 2 of the series and hope the series will get stronger.
