Oh my goodness, I appreciated and absorbed this book so much more reading (and annotating) the actual book rather than listening to the audiobook. What an epic account of Roman history. I love when academics write popular books - all the interesting parts told with authority and not weighed down by all the meticulous detail most actually academic books contain. /Loved/ this.
