I'll admit now that I missed the second book, and usually that drives me again. The thing is, even though I think there's a few things relating to the plot that might've been funnier or made a little more sense if i'd actually read it - for the most part It gelled fine and I caught up on some of the events of the previous book.
It drives me bonkers not being able to read a series in order, but I was in need of a fast, funny, amusing read that it outweighed my need to read the series in order lol. ...more

This is easily one of my favorite series and Lutz is such a talented writer - but, unfortunately, this isn’t my favorite installment of the series. The ending is awfully bittersweet, and as a standalone entry to the series, it simply isn’t as satisfying as some of the others. There are still funny sections, but it’s definitely more enjoyable being able to immediately crack open the spine of the next book, The Spellmans Strike Again. A clever, witty, irreverent novel. I've read all three "Spellman"s and was actually sad knowing "revenge" was the last one. I really loved the characters, the dysfunctional but loving family. One of a kind. I'll miss them.
