Well, I have been waiting for years for this to come out, and alas it has!! I have just reread the whole series in about a week....starting from the very beginning and all the way through to this.

Shelves: favorites, disappointment

You are probably wondering why I listed this book as a favorite, and a disappointment. it's a favorite because this is the end to one of my favorite book series, however, it's a disappointment because...well...it didn't really click for me. For the first time I read Eragon, I thought 'hey, this is how I would've written the book if I wrote it when I was 16'. Although the plot and character building were childish,despite the story having almost all kinds of fantasy cliches, despite the blaring similarities to dragon riders of pern, star wars,etc., there was childish creativity to the book that I liked. And so I continued.

Then came Eldest with lengthy descriptions and multiple POVs. Then came Eldest with lengthy descriptions and multiple POVs. As an avid fan of epic fantasy genre, I revel in detailed explanations. I like elaborate and intricate details. But most of the things explained in Eldest were unnecessary. But I thought 'hey, he is at least trying to provide better explanations and maturing as an author. Lets see how he does in the next and final installment'.

Brisingr followed along with the news that Inheritance is going to be a Cycle instead of Trilogy. Then I thought, 'he obviously underestimated the scope of his story and world. He learnt a lot of things these years'. The writing improved a LOT in Brisingr and the description/details given were not completely random/chaotic(or at least so I thought). I thought he is building up for the final book. He is creating multiple possibilities of the ending and he is going to blow our minds off in the final book. I was really very happy with the way Brisingr went. Despite another fantasy cliche(hermit in the woods - Tenga. And dont even try denying that this character was inspired from Tom Bombadill), the book was 4/5 rated for me

And finally after a long wait(which I never even once complained about)
Inheritance was released. I pre-booked it and got it in my hands on the very first day. So I spent my next 10-12 hours on this supposedly final installment of the Inheritance series. But seriously!! If you dont want to end the series or dont want to say all the secrets/close all loose ends, just say it that you cannot end it in 4 books, but are going to write more on it. But this UTTER SHITY EXCUSE for the final book makes me still cringe in my sleep. Dont even get me started on the loose ends. Brom's seven words??belt of beloth the wise?? Arya accepting to be the queen after saying all the shit that she doesn't like being in Duweldenwarden,Murtagh and Nasuada??(Ok, you never said anything about them....but there were so many FUCKING hints).
First time they meet menoa tree, Saphira has to fire its ass to wake her up and the next time they go, Eragon says 'Hey, Wassup Menoa!!' and menoa is like 'Howdy Eragon, its been ages since I saw you'.
And what was the point of showing Guntera when you are not talking anything about Gods anymore?? what the HELL was that about the cat-lip?? And oh!! you have my undying gratitude for telling me all about Angela.Here, take this potato.

And the HORRIBLE climax, if we can even call it that. It was obvious by the point we reach the end that there is nothing Eragon can do about Galbotrix. So he pulls a trick out of his ass to defeat him?? I mean seriously, I felt like Eragon cheated and won. And then at last about Eragon and Arya parting. What was the justification again?? He can't be trusted/he is dangerous to rule because he is a dragon rider?? Yet Arya is perfectly wise and stable to do that??Oh, he needs to train the next line of dragon riders. But wait!! there are no fucking riders yet. What the Hell is he going to do on that godforsaken island??Oh its because he needs to protect the eggs and eldunari!!Sure, bad ass veteran Eldunari and Blodhgarm and incapable of protecting themselves. But when Eragon is there, they feel as protected as a young lady love in the arms of his huge,handsome prince charming under the shade of Godly Eragon.

And I rest my case with this last argument -

If holding hands is the epic romance you meant, you are in dire need of therapy my friend. I mean I've had more action with my friend's dog for crying out loud.

After all that, I gave 3 stars for a decent prose(I did read through all that shit)and because I have liked the previous books. ...more

I really don’t know where to start. I felt upset that this book was pretty slow at the beginning, I even stopped reading it and I had to force myself weeks later to start reading again.
