This was definitely an interesting summary of a bunch of urban planning ideas that are important for understanding how to make walkable, urban places work. That said, I didn't really like Speck's writing style: it felt like it oscillated a lot between very general, non-technical explanations and going into more detail. (I would've preferred the more detail everywhere, but also just more consistency.) I also felt like he overused footnotes for material that should have just been in the text direc ...more
