meh. Recommended to me by a then-boyfriend. I love art history and I love literature, but this book along with Memoirs of a Geisha were overly hyped in my opinion and very disappointing historical fiction. I think it's because I think the authors could have done so much more with such a fascinating backdrop.
Character development was weak, so I never really connected with any of the characters.
My advice: skip it. ...more
