This one took a lot out of me.
So dark and bleak, yet beautiful at the same time. The minimalistic writing reminds me of Hemingway's Farewell to Arms, but consistently dark throughout where the latter had fluctuation both in setting and mood. Both have the type of sentence structure where they use the word "and" about five times in one sentence.
The father and son relationship will stick with me. There are multiple scenes where a few simple words of dialogue hit you like a brick. The setting never ...more

This is a story about a nameless father and son who are heading south on an abandoned highway, trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic world where all hope has been lost. Everything is covered in ashes, and there is very little life left on the planet.

Joseph Pulitzer was born in Mako, Hungary, on April 10, 1847. He came to America, to Boston, in 1864 at the age of 17. At age 25, in 1878, Pulitzer became a publisher of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. He died in 1911, age 64, and provisions in his will helped establish The Pulitzer Prizes in Journalism, Literature, and Musical Composition in the United States.
