Sad post apocalyptic story of a boy and his father suffering the hardships of daily life.

Ranking and reviewing The Road is not easy for me ... I neither loathed it nor loved it, and thus do not fall into the prevalent, polarized camps of reviews. Well, maybe it's not so difficult to give it a middling rating actually, but processing my thoughts on it took a while.

Pros: This book was cold, dark, and my heart was racing as I read the entire book. The idea of living in a postapolyptic world that is vast and desolate, a world where you no longer can identify humans as friends or foes, where animals and fish are extinct, is a terrifying thought.
Cons: The ending paragraph was cryptic. Wherever dialogue is written in the book, there are no quotation marks. It's annoying. Also, her writing was kind of off sometimes--it seemed like there were sloppy grammatical ...more
