I avoided reading this book for the longest time because I really wasn't sure I would enjoy it, but I was very pleasantly surprised. I was a bit worried at first because once the main character reaches a certain point in the book I thought it might turn out to be another main character gets thrust in a role she never expected and has to go to a "school" where she is an outsider and there are many people who want to see her fail and make her life miserable and that would be the entire book. 3.5 stars. Alina Starkov is an unremarkable orphan and mediocre cartographer who becomes the Sun Summoner and the only hope for saving Ravka. Forgot to review this Book. I am going to say that when I first saw this book I wasn't sure if I was going to like this book but I am so glad I bought the book, because I was wrong I loved the book. I even bought they other two as soon as I finished this one. I still of course have too finish they other two.

I love the cover art. I love the entire setting of the book. I love the idea of the Grisha and of course so drawn to the prince of darkness himself. The female character is well not as smart as I wished a heroine would be but still acceptable. The plot is going too fast, lacking depth. But I still would like to read the second installment.

I really liked this one too. I think her writing has improved over the books, but her characters were fully formed and flawed from the beginning. Kudos!
