Almost despite myself, I was engrossed in this book. Some parts gave me chills. Even though the author clearly and cleverly plays with what is "truth," reality, and story when it comes to war, after a while my enchantment broke. (I take partial responsibility in the shattering of my illusions since they were illusions to begin with...I always seem to do this: I think something is actually based on "reality" and then find out it is a work of "fiction," which does me in if I didn't know it from th ...more
