As a huge Crucible fan, I looked forward to this play. Should I take it as a sign of genius that I could barely stand to crack open the pages? The play is so bleak and none of the characters likable. Maybe I’m the wrong target audience as I’ve never bought into the value of the materialist version of the American Dream? Maybe I didn’t need the eye opening others needed? All I know is that I’m teaching this play and have to plow through it whether I like it or not.
